Gordon Brown has been using the tactics of government by fear and panic to try to swing public opinion behind the treaty he will propose at the big expensive jolly for world leaders in a foreign city XXX climate summit in Copenhagen. At this jolly old booze up the great and good will get together and decide how to save the planet from the threat posed by global warming. We do not know what proposals Gordon's agenda will put forward but you can bet it will not include a pledge by world leaders to desist from flying off round the world to attend jollies every few weeks. A speech Mr. Brown gave over the weekend might give us a few clues though. He told his audience if the world does not back the Copenhagen Treaty millions of people will die as governments shoot dissenters from flood, famine, plague, killer heatwaves, drought, late pizza deliveries as all sorts of catastrophes take their toll. Nobody will be immune, even politicians will be likely to choke to death when saying "anthropogenic" instead of "man made". Boggart Blog wants to ask you Mr. Brown, these natural disasters - will they be in any way similar to the Swine Flu pandemic that was going to have wiped out 450% of the human population by now unless we all trooped off to get our vaccine shot? Or has the pandemic put itself on hold because the vaccine was not ready in time? Or is it like the Bird Flu epidemic a few years ago that was going to wipe us out and in the end here in Britain killed one rather elderly sea bird? And what about the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s. Remember back they were telling us the virus would be carried in air by 1990 and we would be able to catch HIV just by looking at a bare naked lady or even a lady in her underwear unless we wore a decontamination suit? Will your predicted catastrophes of your be like any of those Mr. Brown? And what about the killer heatwaves? Will they be like the Barbecue Summer we were promised this year, or the Barbecue Autumn we were supposed to get last week? I sat in the garden every day with my sausages and burgers and a cool box full of tinnies, I wore my hat with corks round the brim and I froze my bollocks off. The trouble with trying to control people through fear and panic you see Gordon is it will work very well once, not quite so well the next time and the third time will just attract scepticism. Your government, Gordon, tries the fear and panic stratagem about three times a week. It is any wonder nobody ever believes a word you say.

Mad Scientists, Mosquitos and EthicsMad scientists are a fictional stereotype you might think, they exist in Bond films, pulp fiction anf B movies. Think again. Iceberg Alley BluesWe must stop using oil say the politicians and scientists as it becomes more imperative that exploration begins in Iceberg Alley off the Canadian Coast, elsewhere in the Arctic and in other sensitive locations. They are just trying to soften us up for carbon taxes of course. Relaxed Muscle, Gland Problems, Obese Or Just Palin Fat?It is no longer politically correct to call a spade a spade, we have to say a person of colour. Similarly it has become de rigeur to call a fat person obese because obesity, accroding to the Politically Correct Thought Police, is a health problem whereas fat simply means a person is a greedy, lazy, lardarsed bastard. Well the coalition government is having no truck with that. Bring on the lardarses they say.

September 2010 Uptight - The Blood Donor Experience
by fatsally
Once upon a time giving blood was easy, the atmosphere relaxed and people were encouraged to feel as is they were doing something good and worthwhile. Now, acording to fatsally's latest experience, a visit to the blood bank to offer a life saving armful is like The Prisoner meets Orwell's Big Brother. Bureaucracy has taken over and nobody is allowed to fel relaxed. Rules are rules.

Just been along to blood donors.
I've been going for years.
Loads of changes have occured over the time.

The first time I went, to a permanent centre in London, you could have a tin of Guinness as your post donating drink if you wished. A splendid idea but unfortunately it tended to attract the alcoholics, especially as ...

Court Victory For Anti - MMR Campaigners.
It is the medical scandal that refuses to go away. Since its introduction controversy has surrounded the MMR vaccine because in a small number - and we must stress, a small number - of cases children develop serious and permanent side effects after reveiving the vaccine. Now at last, after following a tactic used successfully in the USA and keeping the word autism out of their case, lawyers working for the family of Robert Fletcher have won the first award of compensation for 'brain damage' reslting from the MMR vaccine.

Property Prices To Fall Again?Despite government eforts to talk up a recovery the economy remains stubbornly stagnant. It is unsurprising really, the UK economy still relies far too much on the housing and property market and with incomes being squeezed and house prices remaining so high they are beyond the reach of first time buyers there is little change of increased activity while unemployment continues to rise.

Food Will Cost The Earth
A bid by Australian mining giant BHP Billiton to buy Potash Corp of Canada draws attention to food price inflation, rising commodity prices in world markets and an impending global food supply crisis. Do We Need GM Salmon
US authorities today began the process to approve the first GM animal for human consumption.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a 60-day period of consultation and public meetings over whether to permit a GM strain of salmon to be eaten by humans, even though it has been called a "frankenfish" by critics. The approval process could take less than a year, and if it gets the green light the fish could be on the market in 18 months.
Environmentalists and scientists see the decision as marking a threshold. If it is approved it is likely to open the door to a large range of ...

Dumb Science Story Of The Week: Old People Forget Things

The scientists concluded this is because as people get older they become more inclined to forget things.
